The Yobe State Police Command on Friday lunched the
Operation Puff Adder in the State to curb crimes and criminality within the
state.
The State Commissioner of Police Sunmuno Abdulmilliki
disclosed this at the inaugural of the operation in Damaturu.
CP Sunmuno said, some ugly cases of criminality such as
rape, armed banditry and kidnapping have
started rearing their heads immediately after the election but the state command
is working very hard to nip the trends from the bud.
“The aim of the operation is to tackle crimes affecting the
state such as: insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, armed robbery
among other crimes and also prevent influx of criminal elements to the state
considering the ongoing security operations in the neighboring states as Yobe
has border with four state, Gombe, Borno, Bauchi and Jigawa States.
“So far, the operation is yielding positive results as a lot
of criminal activities in the state were nipped in the bud while a total of
thirty(39) suspects were arrested in connections with different crimes
mentioned above.

“The CP also denied reports that some mobile police attached
to the police command are dying of hunger for lack of payment. He described the
campaign as mischievous and callous, stressing that not mopol visiting or
resident is owned any allowances as at the last count conducted,” the CP
explained.
According to the CP,
the policeman who died is different from the picture of the police in
circulation in Damaturu.
The CP called on the general public to give the police the
required cooperation to succeed in the onerous task of the operation which is
re-coded as ; ‘Operation Kukan Maciji’ in the state.
