A GANG OF RAPE SUSPECTS PARADED BY POLICE IN DAMATURU.

The Yobe State Police Command has made remarkable inroad against criminal elements in the state from January 2019 to April 2019, the State Police Commissioner, Abdulmiliki Sunmonu has said.

Speaking through his command Public Relation Officer ASP Abdulmalek Abdulhafeez informed that a  gang of over thirty suspects have been arrested by  Yobe State police  in connection with rape cases.

ASP Abdulhafeez also informed that some armed robbery suspects, and homo sexual and a trader who was caught with fake Nigerian  currency are with the police for interrogation and will soon be charged to court as soon as due diligence of investigation are concluded.

The suspects who were paraded at the State headquarters of the Police Criminal Investigation Bureau confessed to committing the crimes.

One of the suspect Tasiu Abdulkareem   was paraded  for kidnapping a five year old boy  at Tsangaya Mai Zabu in Potiskum town confessed killing his victim, a five year old  boy after his father could not pay him N8 million ransom he demanded.

Another dismissed soldier was also among the rape suspects in the custody of the police. The soldier was said to have raped a 25 year old girl in the full watch of her parents. The military later court-martialed him, dismissed him and handed him over to the police for prosecution.

 According to the PPRO, two other suspects also from Potiskum at different time deceived their victims and had annal sex with them. While the other one lured an eight year old son of his neighbor  and forcefully penetrated him, the second suspect carried the act with his younger brother of thirteen years old.

Tasiu confessed kidnapping & kill 5yr old boy in Potiskum.

"On 19/02/2019 at about 1030hrs one Adamu Muhammed ‘m’ of Yindiski area of Potiskum reported a case of sodomy against one Abubakar Saddiq Dauda ‘m’ of same address that on 18/02/2019 at about 2100hrs the said Abubakar Saddiq dauda lured his son one Adamu Abubakar ‘m’ age 8 years old and had anal sex with him as a result the victim sustained some bruises inside his anus, the suspect was arrested and a discreet investigation was carried out after which the case diary was transferred to DPP for legal advice. 

"Furthermore on the 28/02/2019 another case of sodomy was reported by one Mohammed Adamu Gambo ‘m’ of Tudun Wada area of potiskum that on same date at about 1000hrs one Tasiu zilla ‘m’ of same address lured his younger brother musa adamu gambo ‘m’ age 13 years old into his room and forcefully had anal sex with him, the suspect was arrested, discreet investigation was conducted after which the case diary was later transferred to DPP for legal advice," the PPRO said.

The Yobe State police command according to their investigation said the rise in rape case in the state is on the high side. The command is therefore soliciting for the support of the general public to curb the menace.

"Routine assessment of the command bureau reveals that the increase in rate  of rape cases within and around the state is alarming thus the yobe state police command call on all  relevant stakeholders not to relent in helping the police in other to bring the perpetrators of this act to justice which will serve as deterrent to others.

"Lastly, the command wish to solicit for the usual cooperation of good and law abiding citizens of yobe state to continue giving reliable information to the police this will enable the command to serve you better; the command assures you that every information given will be treated with utmost confidentiality please. Thank you," the police asked. 

Other suspects also paraded were a syndicated fake union leaders  defrauding traders in Damaturu and other markets, the suspect trading in fake currency,  a fake recruitment gang, a gang of armed robbers operating along Garin/Alkali Gashua road among others.
