Dr. Goje, ES YOSEMA |
Yobe State Emergency management Agency (YOSEMA) has flagged off the distribution of food and non food items to over 20,000 vulnerable people across the State.
This was contained in a press release by the Executive Secretary of SEMA Dr. Mohammed Goje and made available to journalists in Damaturu.
According to the Statement, the flag off which is tagged "GOV. BUNI LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT PROJECT" will be done at Damagum in Fune Local Government while the State wide distribution will continue in earnest.
ImpactOnlineNigeria reports that SEMA had earlier trained 178 volunteers across the state for the effective execution of the exercise.
Dr. Goje in the statement said the intervention is coming when the population in the state is in dire need of food due to the recent flood devastation that bedevilled the more than half of the local government areas in the state.
he called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and continue to pray for the administration of Gov. Mai Mala Buni for the overall development of Yobe State.
The statement reads in full:
"On Monday 14th
October, 2019 Yobe State Emergency Management Agency has flagged off State wide
Livelihood support in Damagum of Fune Local Government tagged "GOVERNOR BUNI
LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT PROJECT”. The Support will involve providing immediate food
and nonfood items to the identified targeted vulnerable households across the
178 political wards in the state with an estimated over 20,000 household to be
supported.
"This support
is among the various initiatives by the administration of His Excellency, THE Executive
Governor OF Yobe state Hon. Mai Mala Buni. In line with the State recovery plan
aimed at providing immediate food and other livelihood items to stabilize the
most affected households that are devastated by the 2019 flooding across the
state.
"The Executive
Secretary OF YOSEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje in his message stated why this
intervention is necessary at this period of the year.
"This intervention
is a strategic intervention because, this is the time of the season when our
local farmers are yet to harvest their farm produce while the ones of the
preceding year are already used or invested in the farming process. The demand
of food is therefore high as the the state was recently devastated with flood and most of the affected population identified as the most vulnerable".
"The Executive
Secretary YOSEMA further strongly advised the beneficiaries across the state to
make good use of the items provided and continue to support and pray for the
administration of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni for the overall interest
and development of Yobe State," the statement read.
