Mr. Baba Shehu was was elected unopposed as his only challenger for the position Sheriff Kura Ibrahim sent in a letter of withdrawal to the electoral committee 24 hours before the election day.
Alhaji Baba Shehu told ImpactOnlineNigeria that part of his focus is to strengthen coordination, look at policies and programs of the new government and see where the CSOs will add value, and constructive engagement for government reforms.
The new Executive Director while expressing his appreciation to the civil society community in the state wrote on his facebook page:
"I wish to appreciate the Yobe CS family especially those that participated in the just concluded NYCSO Election where I emerged as the Executive Director together with other team members.
"I consider the responsibility to lead the Network of CS as a State service and shall try as much to at least meet your expectations from us while ensuring inclusivity in our operations.
"I also wish to exclusively salute Mr. Sheriff Kura Ibrahim who willingly withdrew from the contest with me in the overall interest of the Network, without which the contest wouldn't have been easy for us and has strengthened the spirit of unity and cohesion amongst the CS family in Yobe.
"To the electoral committee Chairman and his members, the Yobe CS family can't appreciate you enough the ensuring a healthy and credible election. You have indeed made us proud.
"For those who did not score the higher number of votes during election, I implore you to consider it a step forward and be ready to support us in making the Network stronger.
