Following the ongoing operation
of the Nigeria Police Force code named Operation Puff Adder, Borno State Police
commander on Friday paraded 68 suspects arrested in their custody for different
criminal and civil offences.
The Commissioner of Police in the
command Mohammed Aliyu while addressing journalists in his office in Maiduguri said
the 68 suspect is an addition to the 84 that were arrested in the month of May,
adding that the arrest is an indication of the success of the operation lunched
by the IGP, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar early this year.
According to
the CP who gave a summary of the offence their offence with their numbers said
a total of four act of terrorism ,
nine cases of kidnapping, five cases of armed robbery, two cases of culpable
homicide and three cases of theft were arrested by the command at different
locations within the state.
Other suspects
arrested were one person in possession of fire arm, while eleven suspected
Indian hemp smokers were also arrested. Another gang of two persons were
arrested in possession counterfeit currency, four extortionists,
five fraudsters.
The CP also
disclosed at nine people were arrested for criminal conspiracy and theft, four
for criminal conspiracy and causing hurt ,
eight for criminal conspiracy and in
possession of stolen property and one in possession of stolen property.
All the arrest he
said were carried out in the month of June.
The CP regretted
the slow prosecution process in the state which he blame on the operation of
the criminal justice system been practiced in the state.
