Gov. Mai Mala Buni showing love to the orphans of YETIM Care Foundation Orphanage, Damaturu during his Sallah visit |
Yobe
State governor Mai Mala Buni on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Yetim Care
Foundation Orphanage in Damaturu as part of his sallah celebration.
ImpactOnlineNigeria reports that Gov. Buni in his sallah message called on the people to be compassionate to the needy in the society.
The governor's visit to the orphanage is therefore a demonstration of his soft spot for the less privileged in the society and his show of love for the needy as captured in his Sallah message.
Gov.
Buni while at the orphanage had a close interaction with the orphans
who were excited to recieving a high profile personality in the
position of a governor for the first time since it's establishment.
Gov.
Mai Mala ordered an immediate upward review of the running cost of the
orphanage to one million naira from five hundred thousand naira.
The governor also ordered infrastructural upgrade at the school with the construction of a new hostel block and a classroom.
His words: "Let me first and foremost start by commending the founders of this orphanage Her Excellency Hajiya Mairian Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
"The
orphans are our children and it's incubent upon us to take care of
them. We must train them, we must give them a sense of belonging. in
Inoing so, we must cater for their basic needs. As we know, we are all
humans and we also know that this world is hopelessly transient. We are
all in transition and we will all leave this world one day but when and
how is in the hands of God. We don't know.

"This
is what we call sadaqatul jariya (charity whose reward even after
death) it is not only the government but some well-to-do individuals in
our society must contribute to ensure that we take good care of the
orphans especially the situation we found ourselves.
"We
know what we experienced in the last eight years or so.The Boko Haram
crisis in our place. Yobe is one of the worse hit states after Borno and
Adamawa.
"One can only
imagine the number of orphans in our communities especially the
identified and the unidentified ones. These privileged ones that are
here identified must be taken care of by government and the good
Samaritans in the society and give them a sense of belongin.
"The principal has read out the needs of this orphanage and what is required to train them.
"I
want to double the running cost of the orphanage to one million naira
instead of the five hundred thousand they have been operation on. We
will also construct a hostel and a classroom to the existing facilities
in the school. I want the principal of this orphanage to be in touch
with the SSG regularly to ensure their demands are addressed promptly,"
Gov. Buni said.
